MAC GYM RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY CELEBRATES THE COMPLETION OF THE ARC PROJECT

Woodridge Park District staff and board members celebrated the grand opening of the ARC’s newest addition, the MAC Gym, on Tuesday, March 13 with a ribboncutting ceremony. Fred Hohnke, the District’s Board President, cut the ribbon after remarks by Mike Adams, Executive Director. Staff and board members were accompanied by representatives from the project’s construction and architect companies, Corporate Construction and Williams Architects.

Similar to the existing ARC gyms, the MAC Gym features a high-quality wood floor system, state-of-the-art gym equipment, a divider curtain, scoreboards, bleacher areas, pre & post game meeting areas, LED lighting, and a sound system. The main basketball court (50’ x 78’) can be converted to:

  • One regulation-size volleyball court, or floor hockey court; OR
  • Two Biddy-size basketball courts (30’ x 50’), or futsol courts; OR
  • Three badminton courts or pickleball courts

The gym will provide new and expanded opportunities for open gym play for various sports, programs and camps. Construction of the 7,500 square-foot area began in June 2017 after a $2.5MM Park and Recreational Facility Construction grant was reinstated for funding after a 22-month suspension.

In addition to the gym, construction of an outdoor shelter on the north side of the ARC is near completion is expected to be ready for use in late spring for camps and soccer.
